My Life, in Beatle-ish
Posted by Deepak on February 6, 2010
My brother had tagged me in a note he wrote on Facebook titled “My life according to Metallica”. The aim of the game was to answer a bunch of questions on your life – the catch being that every answer must also be the name of a song by your favorite band. In my brother’s case it was, of course Metallica. I thought he did quite brilliant but instead of reproducing his whole post in it’s entirety, let me direct you to his actual note on facebook (I hope FB privacy settings allow non-friends to see this).
Now, this happened in late October of 2009 and he had tagged me in this note so that I would also write a similar note about my favorite band (the band had to be different from the one he used and I also couldn’t repeat song titles). At that point I couldn’t think of any band or singer that had really inspired me, except maybe MJ. But I was also too lazy to sit and write at that time and so I didn’t do anything about it.
Then during Thanksgiving 2009 I stumbled upon an offer I just couldn’t refuse – the Beatles box set on sale at amazon for 100$. This set contained all their studio album releases with all cover art intact, plus the singles that they released which never got the album treatment (like I wanna hold your hand, or Hey Jude) along with a bonus documentary DVD. I swooped on this deal and gradually started getting indoctrinated into the Beatles way of life. I’ve been exclusively listening to Beatles songs ever since and have been amazed by the music, the variety the sheer talent! I’d also been thinking that the Beatles have so many songs covering so many different topics that there probably is a Beatles song for every situation in life. I was thinking about writing a post about this but I never got around to it.
And then we FlashForward(RIP – loved that show) to today when I stumbled upon my brother’s “Metallica note” while trying to fiddle with some settings on Facbook. This time I was more up to the challenge, I had a band that absolutely inspired me (and had a large enough discography to make this venture possible). So, without further ado, let’s get on to what I have managed to accomplish here.
This is…. my life, in Beatle-ish (this is the same content I had posted on facebook)
Are you a male or female?
Boys (another choice would be – not “Girl”)
Describe yourself:
I am the Walrus! (obviously didn’t want to put “Fool on the hill” here, or “Nowhere Man” or “I’m a Loser”)
How do you feel:
Everybody’s got something to hide except me and my monkey, or maybe Ob-la-di Ob-la-da life goes on, brah!
Describe where you currently live:
There’s a place, or maybe Sea of time?
If you could go anywhere, where would you go?
I’ll Follow the Sun, or maybe the obvious choice – Across the Universe
Your favorite form of transportation:
Yellow submarine (duh, too easy)
Well then, maybe “Drive my car”
Your best friend is:
Rocky Raccoon, or heck maybe “Michelle”
What’s the weather like:
Here Comes the Sun (it’s actually cloudy but hey)
If your life was a TV show, what would it be called:
Revolver would sound so cool -but that’s an album, not a song, so maybe Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts club Band? Naah that’s just too sad – let’s go with “A Hard Day’s Night”
What is life to you:
Helter Skelter (again, too easy)
or “Magical Mystery tour”
Your current relationship:
“It won’t be long”, or “Wait” (Hey at least it’s not “Not a second time”)
Breaking up:
Hello Goodbye (too easy again). Let’s go with “Misery” or “The End”
Looking for:
“Money (that’s what I want)”
Wouldn’t mind:
HELP!
Your fear:
Taxman (lol)
What is the best advice you have to give:
Think for yourself
If you could change your name, you would change it to:
Mr. Moonlight, or maybe “Mean Mr. Mustard”
Thought for the Day:
All you need is love (tell me you didn’t see that coming!)
)
How would I love To Die :
When I’m sixty Four – ok that’s now how, that’s when, so maybe “Chains” (kinky, huh?) ;-D
My motto:
I’ll be back (The Beatles got to this phrase much before the Gubernator)
